Have you ever had one of those moments when you just feel “BLAH”, for no apparent reason? Worse, no matter what you try, nothing shifts it. Well worry not, we all get them, so here are a few of my favourite ways to deal with it.
Go off to the gym and blow some weights or cardio.
This may take some doing, especially if you have a major blah, or it’s in the middle of the day. I can only say for myself, take a bit of Green Tea X50, turn up my favourite DJ Villeneuve mix, and blast the weights.
Nothing beats a great hard weights session for getting the body back, and clearing the mind – let’s face it, if you’ve got to pick up some major weight in the deadlift, you aren’t going to be worried about much else.
Exercise also releases endorphins that help uplift the mood, as well as release any stress hormones in the system. Give it a go; even if you don’t hit a PB, I am sure you will feel a lot better afterwards.
Go for a walk in nature.
If the gym isn’t for you, a blast of fresh air, surrounded by nature, is another great way to remove the blahs! If you feel like it, take off your shoes, as research has shown that walking bare foot on the earth for 15 minutes a day, can bring around very positive mood changes, as well as healing in the body. “Earthing” is getting a lot of traction now, with research showing the benefits of becoming earthed, of sleeping on earthing mats, and of using such mats when working on a computer, to help remove the electromagnetic stress around the body. Check out Youtube which has various videos on this. But most of all, when the Blahs come a calling, go do some walking!
Grab your partner
Now this is a bit controversial, but … grab your partner, look them deep in the eye, and whisper “I want to make love to you now”, and whisk them off their feet. It’s a proven fact that sexual activity releases massive amounts of hormones that uplift the mood, as well as help the body recover from stress. And what better way to lift the blahs than by blowing your partners mind with the most amazing orgasm, and then you too. If you don’t have a partner, fear not, self-play is also very special. Make some space, turn down the lights, and have fun exploring your own body, finding out what turns you on. Sex is the best mood enhancer know, so even if you don’t get the blahs, please make time very regularly to explore yourself and / or your partner, and create the most amazing orgasms ever! Forget Apples, an orgasm a day will keep the doctor away! It’s the greatest way to health.
Put on some music and dance like Prince said “Party like its 1999!”
I know for me, if I have had a bit of a doozy day, and options 1 – 3 aren’t available (on the rare occasions), then cranking up the sound system, and moving to the music, with wanton abandon, soon cheers me up. Sing along, make up the words, do whatever you want, but just enjoy the freedom of knowing you are removing the crap from your system.
So there we have it, how to deal with the blahs. Just remember, it’s a choice to remain in them (trust me I know this well), and it’s a choice to snap out of them to. Maybe ask yourself the question:
“if this was my last day on earth, would I choose this energy or something else?”
Now I am sure we each have our own great ways to get rid of the blahs, sharing your favourite way in the comments below. You never know, you may well save someone’s life by doing so!
Until next time,
