WHAT IS THE ONE THING THAT YOU DO, THAT HELPS YOU BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE?
I connect to my hara. This is also called our lower tan tien in martial arts or the ‘seat of the soul’ and it is where every answer we ever need to know already lives. The trick is being able to access it. I do that with Zen Ki Yoga® because it is all based on bringing energy into the core, which is closely related to the hara. I also do it by sending my breath down to that area, either in meditation or even when walking down the street or watching TV. I find that when I am putting my mind into this area (with the breath and the strength), I am calmer and more connected to my truth.
I teach this work to people with anxiety as I’ve found it’s an amazing way to keep my own anxiety and any chaos that tends to arrive in day-to-day life at bay. It instantly helps to see each situation from a grounded and centred point of view so that I can react to whatever is happening in a calm way that doesn’t make me regret an reactions that I may have had if I had been in a heightened emotional state. The more I practice this, the faster and easier it is to access and the better I become at it.
I find connecting to the deep self gives me more access to the spiritual world and therefore my intuition. When we are emotional and our energy rises to the head, the ego gets in the way. Our gut thoughts are always the correct ones. When our head gets in the way, we over think and that thinking can be based on our biased thoughts from our fears and what other’s may be telling us. This can take us out of our body and our energy can be scattered all over the place, which can make us have less vitality as well. I often say:
‘Be in your body to be in touch with the universe. Stay grounded to connect to spirit’.
