WHAT IS THE ONE THING THAT YOU DO, THAT HELPS YOU BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE?
One thing that that I do that helps me to be the best that I can be is living a lifestyle that is positive in every aspect in life. I try to lead by example by living a healthy and fit lifestyle but not any lifestyle but a vegan lifestyle. I have inspired thousands of people that living a plant based lifestyle is healthy, fit, and also has many benefits when it comes to preservation of animals and also the environment. I have been in the military for about 8 years. I did 4 years in the United States Marine Corps, I deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom III and IV, and I also did 4 years in the United States Navy Reserves. Through my time in the military I always wanted to give back to the world by doing a great service that can help and protect people.
When l became vegan it was about 6 years ago, and I was in school at the time. I was in class and I was able to to listen to Gary Yourofsky which is an animal activist. When I heard his speech I felt that all the medals that I earned in the military didn’t serve any justice in what my heart was desiring. I realize there was a silent war that was going on with innocent animals. For once in my life I didn’t see animals as food anymore. I saw them as living beings that can love, nurture, communicate, feel pain, and fear. That is when I decided to leave the military and actually help people without force, but through love and compassion. I realize that helping other people’s lives through health and nutrition can be one of the most rewarding things to do. When I have people to this day tell me that I have personally changed their lives for the better, that speaks louder than any medal or ribbon that was put on my chest.
Being vegan has also inspired others who work with me, follow me through social media, or been to my speaking events to go more towards a plant based diet. People’s health has improved, less animals are being killed, and the environment is getting less polluted. People trust me because I am a 3x Pro Bodybuilder, Health Coach, and also a Master Fitness Trainer with a degree in Exercise Science. So seeing that I have broken myths being on a plant based diet, people are more open to change their diet for the better. Helping other life forms no matter if it’s an animal or human has made me be better as a person.
